Processing Time

The turnaround time for

"REGULAR" visa service is 9 business days (about two weeks processing);

"RUSH","EXPEDITED"service - 3 business days.

Since there are many questions regarding a visa processing time please note that:

(a) Visa processing starts only after we have registered your application and collected all necessary documents.

(b) Next-day processing is available only if our volume of work permits and in the case of emergency (natural disaster or death of relative). To ensure timely issuance of a visa needed on an "expedited" basis, it is required to provide to the Consulate General an original or a clear photocopy of the applicant's airline ticket and/or the respective supporting documents.

(c) A drop-off day is not counted as a business day.

(d) If you apply by mail please allow one more day processing time.

(e) Any application received on Wednesdays, weekends, official Ukrainian and US holidays will be registered by the Consulate only on the next business day.

IMPORTANT: Applicants, non US citizens, holding passports issued by the following countries must allow at least 15 business days for their visa application to be processed:

Angola, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Ghana, India, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Democratic Republic of Congo, China, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Syria, Somali, Sri-Lanka
and others.

Citizens of the above mentioned countries must additionally submit the following documents:

  • Proof of readmissibility to USA (US Alien Registration Card, US Temporary Resident Card, employment authorization etc.)
  • Original letter of invitation (no fax or e-mail copies) made through a Ukrainian "Visa and Registration Office" (for all types of visa).

To better serve you, we request that you do not call regarding
your visa status as that may interrupt our processing.
